Hiking/Cykling/Canyoning
Cykling
Cycling is like a religion for many in France. France is now adapted so that you can cycle at a comfortable pace and see the fantastic views but also for the more adventurous cyclists who want to soar forward along the steep, winding small roads.
The idea of cycling on the narrow roads along with all the car traffic, may feel a little unsafe, but since France is well known for the famous Tour de France cycle race, drivers are used to it and take good consideration of everyone on two wheels.
Lhe country has also adapted to the environment over the years and more bicycles are replacing car and bus traffic. More bike paths have been built that promote an enjoyable and safe bike ride.
There is now even a bike path from Nice Côte d'Azur airport so that you can get along the "Promenade des Anglais" to Nice, in only about 15 minutes! Bicycles are available for rent at the airport.
If you want to continue even further, there is a bike path from the "Promenade des Anglais" in Nice, all the way to Antibes (about 23km). It is relatively unoccupied but if you want to enjoy the view even more, there is the opportunity to rent an electric bike.
Hiking
Who knew that France has "Europe's own Grand Canyon". Gorges du Verdon, is a 20 kilometer long and 700 meter deep gorge, that has been made from the river Verdon burying itself through the limestone shafts. Around the gorge you will experience a fantastic greenery and at the bottom flows the Verdon River with its turquoise blue water. There are lots of exciting hiking trails, both along the river, but also in the mountains around.
Gorges du Verdon is located 12 miles from Grasse.
Canyoning
Canyoning is an adventurous and slightly different activity, where you get around with the help of nature's elements. You swims through rivers, jumps from small waterfalls and slides down polished cliffs. You can do canyoning at the Gorges du loup waterfall, which is only 1.5 miles from the Maison Cherie. Read more →
