Grasse

Walk through the beautiful alleys with all the small shops of perfume, nougat, marmalades and chocolate. Take a break and feel all the different aromas with a homemade ice cream or a glass of wine. It is also exciting to take a trip with the city train to really see all the city's little gems.

Fragonard, Molinard and Galimard (all ending in -ard:)

All names and their history can be found in Grasse. However, not everyone has been involved in developing perfumes, but there is also an art history in the picture.

Jean-Honoré Fragonard was an artist who painted the famous painting Le Verrou. Eugène Fuch, on the other hand, was the person who opened the perfume house Fragonard, but who chose the name Fragonard, to pay tribute to the artist from Grasse.

Do you want to be unique and create your own fragrance? Then we recommend you to visit Molinard's Atelier de Tarinologie, where you will learn how to make a perfume, as well as create your own perfume that only you have!

May is announced to be the best month to discover Grasse in. That's when the Mayrose blooms and creates a special scent in most perfumes.

Opio/ Valbonne

Opio is a small village about 10min from the house. In Opio there are a few restaurants, a small shopping center, grocery store and a playground. At the small mall you have a lot of shops gathered around a parking lot. Pharmacy, health food, bakery, optician, charcuterie, delicatessen and the grocery store Carrefour. Carrefour has a large selection of everything you may need for your stay.

South of Opio, lies Valbonne. Valbonne is also a small village (about 15min from the house) but with a little higher factor of cosiness.

The village is in the form of a square with small alleys and a square in the middle that offers outdoor dining and café. The shops in the alleys consist of craft shops, delicatessens, interior design shops and some clothing stores.

Antibes

Antibes is a small town located on the French Riviera between Nice and Cannes. When you visit Antibes ´´, you get a little feeling of a the Swedish city Visby but with a fantastic yacht harbor outside the walls. Take a walk to the old town and its narrow alleys, markets and cafés.

If you get tired after the walk on hilly cobblestone streets, you can sit down on one of Antibes lovely beaches right by the harbor.

At the beginning of the old town you will come to the Picasso Museum. Pablo Picasso had his studio here in 1946 and donated paintings and sketches to the city. Since then, the collection has grown and the Picasso Museum was inaugurated in 1966. Today, works by other artists are also on shown.

Cannes

If you continue to drive along the coast, you will reach Cannes after about 30min (by car). Cannes has several similarities with Antibes, especially with its huge yacht harbor but also with its lovely promenades and sandy beaches. In Cannes, there is life and movement all year round, either at the Festival Palace or at the shopping street Rue d'Antibes. The most famous festival, the Film Festival, takes place in May and has been arranged since 1946. We also recommend you to visit Cannes in September when the big Yacht festival takes place. Nice

Nice is also called the capital of the French Riviera. It takes about 30 minutes by car from the house. The flight lands just outside Nice, at Nice Cote dÁzur airport.

In Nice you get a mix of Mediterranean, city and mountains. Nice is perfect in February, because then it's carnival month! Experience carnival processions and flower parades on the Promenade des Anglais, where you'll experience music, scents, culinary events and lots of colour. In February there is also sunny, and then more calm than with all the summer tourists.

If you are in Nice in the summer, you might be there when  it´s the Jazz Festival, which is one of the most famous in the world.
